Photography
I enjoy documenting my travels and field work. I took most of the photos below on a Canon AE-1 35mm film camera, using whatever film I had on hand.
Singapore (2026)
I visited Singapore in July, 2026 for the first time in 15 years, after spending most of my early childhood there. I tried to capture places that felt intimately familiar– the Botanical Gardens, hawker centers, nature trails at Sungei Buloh — and those that imposed a strange or surreal sense of change.
Mexico (2024,2026)
In 2024, I visited Tulum as part of a departmental field trip, after spending a semester studying the climate, environment, and human history of the region. In 2026, I visited Guanajuato to attend a Callejoneada.
Greenland (2022, 2025)
I visited northwestern Greenland in 2022 to conduct field work as part of the Green Drill program. We collected bedrock cores and surface samples in Inglefield Land for cosmogenic nuclide dating, to better understand the deglacial history of the region. In 2025, I returned to Greenland to attend Greenland Science Week in Nuuk. All photos from Inglefield were taken on disposable cameras. Photos from Nuuk were taken on a leaky Pentax K1000.
The Eastern Sierra (2024)
In 2024, I participated in a two-week workshop for graduate students studying paleoclimatology (paleoCAMP) in Mono County, California. We took day trips to nearby sites of geological/environmental interest, including the Bristlecone Pine Forest, Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, and the Wilson Creek Formation.
Morningside Heights (2024)
I documented the student protest movement at Columbia University in 2024. My work was featured in Camp as Event, a ‘Hot Spot’ article in Cultural Anthropology, as part of the series Counter Archives: Fieldnotes from the Encampments.
